The Wattblock team have been knee deep in customer engagement and drafting the necessary legal and marketing collateral for our flagship service offering.

However, that hasn't stopped us making more waves in the media over the past two weeks.

  • Wattblock solar deprivation impact analysis featured in the North Shore Times, asserting solar access as a right not just an amenity.
  • Brent presented to Willoughby City Council in open session on "energy efficiency in the local community"
  • Pitched to Dave McClure known as a "super angel" and founder of US accelerator program 500 Startups
  • Wattblock selected as one of six finalists pitching at the Shenzhen UNSW Pitching competition this Thursday 11th Dec at 6pm.
Despite our small team, we are somehow surging forward on all fronts as the Telstra Muru-D machine keeps us energized.

Wattblock Data Engine:
  • Developed bulk uploader to handle large scale energy report generation
  • Geothermal pool heating added to energy efficiency solutions database
  • Roadmap updated to support clusters of buildings in a single strata plan
Business Development:
  • Met with representatives from the Strata Management industry which we are investigating as a possible channel to market
  • Engaged with Telstra's NBN business development team
  • Developed legal and marketing collateral to make a retrofit offer direct to an Owners Corporation
Commercialisation:
  • Testing 8 different models for Wattblock to fund building retrofits
  • Modified standard 3 year energy performance contract to include a "break fee"
  • Completed our lean canvas for China trade mission in March
Education:
  • Masterclass on pricing with Telstra's Pricing Team
  • Crowdfunding talk at General Assembly hosted by Dean McEvoy of Spreets
  • 2 day Muru-D startup offsite at Stanwell Tops with the theme "focus and vision"
  • Participated in the Global Sustainability Jam, a 48 hour design thinking challenge at Fishburners
Lots of Meetings:
  • Strata managers
  • PR Expert
  • 2 x State Ministers of Parliament
  • Energy Retailers
  • Venture Capitalist
  • Digital Marketer
  • Superfund
  • Startup Incubator
We are currently looking for parties interested in sponsoring our upcoming competition to find "Australia's Biggest Waster" and fund the retrofit of their building.
If you haven't created an energy report for your building you can do so here. If you know someone who owns an apartment tell them about us. If you can help us in any way, we'll buy you a coffee!

Don't go wasting,
