Oracle Corporation has announced its US$532m acquisition of OPower. Opower is a 9 year old U.S. company which provides its residential housing analytics platform to over 100 energy utilities. This is significant as it is an example of a large IT company taking smart meter data and energy analytics seriously.

In Australia, we have recently seen air conditioning sensor company BuildingIQ (ASX: BIQ) and smart meter company Locality Planning Energy (ASX: LPE) list on the ASX. Melbourne-based digital solar startup, Matter, has also announced a $20m IPO.
Happy Birthday, Ross!
Ross McIntyre, Chief Data Officer for Wattblock has been driving the analytics behind Wattblock over the past 20 months and managing our talented energy analytics team. He's pictured here at the Coal Loader Sustainability site at Balls Head where we met with North Sydney and Willoughby council representatives. We just celebrated his birthday but that is one number he does not want to disclose.

Team Update
We welcome back Alvin Mo to the Sydney Office for his second internship with Wattblock. He is a current student in solar engineering at UNSW who is doing his thesis in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) in buildings.

Product Update
The first 'beta' report has been created off our new integrated analytics and reporting system. We are in a process of continual improvement to lower the unit cost economics of each energy report we produce.

Brisbane Trip
