Season's Greetings!

Hi All,

As 2016 comes to a close, we should pause for a moment and reflect on the energy we saved and the carbon we abated. Wattblock would like to thank all the strata managers, suppliers, universities and government departments which helped us on the journey. It truly has been a great team effort.
We wish everyone a happy festive season, where we can continue to win by choosing natural ventilation over air-con, clothes racks over dryers and LED lights over candles.

We look forward to working with you all again in 2017. Happy New Year!

Brent, on behalf of the Wattblock team

  1. Set air-conditioners to 24ºC, costs can jump 10% per degree above this
  2. Switch off the air-con in empty rooms and shut the windows/doors
  3. Ceiling fans can cool a room while improving natural ventilation and air flow
  4. Thick curtains or double-glazed windows can limit heat infiltration
  5. LED christmas lights cost less to run and won't flicker as the years go by
  6. Timers on christmas lights can be used to limit power usage
  7. Solar-powered lights are a cheap way to make things festive
  8. Dry clothes in the sun, electric dryers consume huge amounts of energy
  9. Replace air-con filters as dirty filters cause more energy use than normal
  10. Check for rebates available if purchasing energy-efficient appliances
