Missed you? Loved seeing you! (yep, that's exactly how we feel...)

We loved seeing so many of our friends at the recent LMASE Conference in Atlanta, GA. For those of you who weren't able to make it, we collected a few of our favorite "a-ha" moments and put them into an infographic.

Great notes from 2015 LMASE Conference
Many, many thanks to our friend Laura Hudson (Marketing Director for Brooks Pierce in North Carolina) for sharing her notes from The Client Experience session at the 2015 LMASE Conference. Current clients are our best source of growth for the firm and we can all learn from what Grant Thornton has done to improve the experience of their clients. Read the full notes here.

Society 54 gives you direct access to what In-House Counsel want. The Q&A below taken from a recent interview we conducted with John Buckley, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at PPMS.

What are the biggest mistakes outside counsel can make? (What should law firms avoid?)
A:  To be honest, it's generally not legal. The biggest mistake I see law firms make is losing sight of their business. Splintering off of lawyer groups weakens not just the capacity of the firm, but also confidence in the firm.  Although not usually the case, it can be interpreted as a sign of impending implosion. Groups of lawyers tend to leave firms for financial reasons combined with some sense of unfairness. Both of those issues arise because the firm wasn't managing the business part of the firm well enough.  Sometimes as in-house counsel you can follow particular lawyers, but often it causes a re-assessment of the entire portfolio of legal relationships in the company.

Who is breaking the mold within the legal industry?

This new section within our newsletter will feature those within the legal profession who think differently, who push the limits of what is possible and help us all gain new ground. These folks have redefined what it means to think outside the law (aka OUTLAW) and are helping each of us in the process.

Meet Jon Mattson. We believe that he is one of the original Outlaws. So, we asked him a few questions. You can read his responses here.
