New Roper Website Goes Live

The Roper Center is pleased to announce that our new website is live! If you haven’t been to our site, please drop by, take a look around and let us know what you think! We welcome your feedback.

Large Number of New Data Providers

Did you know that last year the Roper Center at Cornell University added 16 brand new data providers?  These include academic institutions such as the Stockton Polling Institute and Middle Tennessee State, the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions (CSDI) Vanderbilt Poll, our own Cornell Survey Research Institute, and the Monmouth University Polling Institute.

Interested in international public opinion data? Of course you are! Over the last year, the Roper Center added the Latin American data provider, Datos Group and the Russian polling firm VCIOM. We also added the game maker, Cards Against Humanity and the sleep health advocate National Sleep Foundation.
Speaker Series

Dr. Erika Fowler, Director of the Wesleyan Media Project, is scheduled to visit the beautiful campus of Cornell University, Monday, March 11th, 2019 for the next installment of the Roper Center Speaker Series. Mark your calendars and visit the Media Project’s website to learn more about her research interests.
A Warm Roper Welcome
Bethany Mackay joins the Roper Center team as Project Director after working at Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield on technology modernization projects. Prior to Excellus BCBS, she assisted her employers in building production support departments, creating new products and business development. Bethany will be using her past experience to help the Roper Center create a new data portal with a focus on health.
Anjuli Smith is in her third year at Cornell in the College of Engineering. Anjuli Smith joins the Roper Center as a software development co-op for the spring 2019 semester. She is active in on-campus research and sings in the Less Than Three a cappella group. 
2019 Andrew Kohut Fellowship Program

Attention Cornell Students! The Roper Center at Cornell is now accepting applications for the 2019 Andrew Kohut Fellowship Program in Public Opinion and Survey Research. This fellowship is open to both graduate and undergraduate students and more information is available here

New and Unusual Surveys Released

Did you know that almost half of U.S. adults have seen a family member jailed? The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at Cornell University is excited to archive survey data behind a major report, “Every Second: The Impact of the Incarceration Crisis on America’s Families” released 12/6/2018 by  It explores family contact with the criminal justice system in the United States. You can access the data here. The Roper Center has an Issue Brief on the criminal justice survey located in our blog.
