From the Chair..

Our Thursday night ‘fix’ of all things photography has been the tonic we have all needed during these turbulent times. To be together with like minded friendly people with the common goal of photography, has helped us all cope with pretty well everything that has been thrown at us in the last year.  You can gauge the high level of enthusiasm and creative input in everything the club members tackle whether it’s a competition or workshop or just enjoying some of the great talk presentations we have had this season, from both visiting speakers (curtesy of the long distance Zoom potential) or our own talented members sharing tips and demonstrating techniques.

The overall photography Inspiration comes from all our members working and being together as a club. A powerful combination!

Our latest club league print competition gave an Interesting challenge with the two set subjects of ‘Industrial’ and ‘Circles’.  There were some diverse and Imaginative Interpretations of the theme, 61 Images were entered to enjoy, viewed on Zoom by visiting Judge Steven Galvin.

Thanks to everyone that entered the competition and congratulations to the higher scoring authors. Special mention for consistent In form member Gordon Calder who was awarded 20points for his two excellent Images in the ‘Circles’ competition.

Croxley into new External Competition!

Tring & District Camera Club have launched a new interclub competition that celebrates the growing interest in the genre of ‘Intimate Scapes'.

Croxley will be one of 12 clubs in the CACC region taking part. Each club will enter 5 Intimate Scapes, each taken by a different photographer.  A sixth ‘tie breaker’ image will also be supplied and this can be taken by another photographer, or one of those chosen for the main 5 images. There will also be a prize for the best club and the author of the best image. The first competition evening is set for Thursday 24th March 2022 and will be held at The Baptist Hall in Tring. Up to 6 members of each participating club are welcome to attend.

So what is an 'Intimate Scape'?  Let's look at the brief...

"An intimate scape is one in which you’re selecting and isolating one small part of a scene that captures your interest and presents an ‘intimate feel’. It might be a smaller part of a wider scape, it might also be a smaller composition that focuses on shapes, lines, colours, textures or patterns. It is a view of a scene in which any object of focus, is surrounded by its context."

The final list of Participants are:
Croxley, Ealing, Field End, Harpenden, ImageZ, Kidlington, Leighton Buzzard, Maidenhead, Oxford, Pinner, Princes Risborough, Wallingford, Woodley & Tring.  No Watford or Amersham!

More to follow.

New Event - Online Talk

Remote Photoshoots Worldwide by Natasha J Bella
15th April 2021

Natasha talks to us about the development and progress of remote photoshoots, which is a way for models and photographers to work together over long-distances.  Remote, or 'virtual' photoshoots have become popular in the last 12 months as photographers all over the world have found their hobby curtailed by Covid-19 restrictions.

Based in her Leeds studio, she has worked with over hundreds of photographers from Slovenia, Finland, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Israel, Thailand, Singapore, Canada, China & the USA.

Showcasing the images demonstrating what is possible and the creativity achieved, Natasha will talk us through the technical aspects and follow with a practical demonstration.

This event has been added to the program and represents an additional cost to the club.  The committee would therefore be very grateful for any contributions from members to help cover the cost.  If you would be happy to contribute a small amount to the cost of this event, please do so using the club banking information below;
