From the Chair...

From the moment our guest speaker played the opening AV style Photography (Images set to music) showing amazing sports shots, we knew were we in for a treat of an evening.

Mark Pain multi-award winning photographer joined us on Zoom last week to give a presentation on sports photography.  Mark shared his vast experience in the Industry having been Chief sports photographer for the Mail on Sunday for over 20 years and winner of many awards including Olympic photographer of the year 2012 and SJA sports photographer of the year 2013.

The much travelled photographer shared detail on how some of his amazing Images, ranging from professional golf, formula one racing and premiership football were achieved, often in difficult circumstances, dealing with Inclement weather and physical locations. In addition to giving great tips on equipment and how to best tackle sports photography.

In the second half of the evening Mark focused on the 2012 Olympics, where once again he Impressed with outstanding shots of many events and competitors and explained a lot of the thinking behind obtaining such fantastic Images.

He has a great delivery style and encouraged questions throughout the evening always happy to share his knowledge.  It was a very Inspiring and enjoyable evening which had everyone fully engaged with this outstanding prestigious photographer.

Our new season has got off to a great start, which so far has Included two superb talks/presentations.

Studio Update

In light of current rule of six guidelines, we have been unable to arrange a midweek studio evening so far this year.  This is because we require 6 photographers in attendance to ensure costs to members are kept down, whilst ensuring all costs of the evening such as model fees and studio hire are met.

We do have a few options within our gift, but the committee do not wish to speak on your behalf, and invite you to tell us which of these options you would like us to progress so that you are able to continue the studio photography that so many of you enjoyed last season.

If you are interested in studio photography, or have attended previous studio evenings, please complete this short survey and tell us how you would like us to proceed.

XRR Visions 2020

is a digital image trophy competition, held annually.  It is specifically aimed at individual competitors from any PAGB affiliated club.  There is also the option for three individual entrants to be registered as a club team to compete for a separate trophy.

The individual trophy is presented by XRR PS and retained by the individual winner.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday, 4th November 2020, and the final live judging for Visions will be via a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, 25th November. Judging all entries this year will be Richard Speirs DPAGB APAGB BPE2*.

Visit the Visions 2020 website to enter and for more information.

2019/20 Trophy Winners

In light of the current climate, we have not been able to hold our traditional trophy presentation to celebrate our 2019/20 winners.

Of course we still want to ensure our newly crowned winners receive their trophies.  Whilst we acknowledge the circumstances are less than ideal, the club asks that in these unprecedented circumstances, existing holders arrange a convenient time to hand trophies to their new guardians.  Once handovers are complete, please email Vanessa to let her know.  Certificates are also available by email, that can be printed at home.

Full details of which trophy needs to go where are available in the members area of the Club website.

If you need any additional information or have any queries regarding the transfer of trophies, please contact a member of the committee.
