2020/21 Season Summer Party
Thursday 10th June at 7:45pm on Zoom

In a slight change to our programme, the 2020/21 season closes a week early.

Join us on Zoom for our 'Virtual' summer party with a fun evening of social chat and quizzes by our Treasurer, Rod Lacey

This will be the last Newsletter of the season, however keep your eye peeled in August when we will be announcing more details of the upcoming season, as well as the 'Set Subjects' for next year's competitions!

From the Chair...

Hi Everyone,

As many of you know from last Thursday Steve, our Chairman, is undergoing some hospital tests following a problem with his eyesight.

The evening went ahead with our Print Competition split into the two trophy classes ‘Colour’ and ‘Monochrome’. Peter Cox was our judge and he did a great job of choosing the top 3 in each class and Commended and Highly Commended images. Peter was highly complementary of the whole body of work submitted which in his words “makes my job tonight very difficult”. Congratulations to all the winners

At the end of the judging we discussed the next few weeks itinerary. With Steve absent it was thought that our AGM, scheduled for Thursday 10th June should be postponed and the end of season party brought forward to replace it. This was agreed, so our last meeting will be the 10th June and next season starting as planned on the 2nd September.

The Summer party will be a fun evening with quizzes (you will need pencil and paper at hand) and the results of the league positions and cup winners for the season will be announced. However we will start with the necessary club’s finances for the year and as Treasurer I’ll present my report. The remainder of the AGM Agenda can be postponed until the 2nd September when hopefully we might all be back in the hall.

I’m sure we all wish Steve a quick recovery and I will send those wishes to him on the Club’s behalf.

Rod Lacey

Saturday 5th June 2021

Thank you to our members that came out to enjoy an afternoon of Summer Fashion Photography in the beautiful grounds of Chorleywood House.

The stunning weather was perfect for us to learn about high speed sync flash in full sun, and allowed us to create some terrific fashion portraits.  This is my first edit from the day, I'm very excited to see everyone else's images in competition next season!

Ballet Photo Walk Round-up

With the sun beginning to shine, and restrictions starting to ease, there was a wonderful sense of excitement & optimism in London as we embarked on a Photowalk around the financial district, accompanied by the very talented Ayla Rose.

Ayla showed us some of her favourite places to shoot and encouraged us to think differently, seeking out shafts of light and the reflections between the glass buildings from Broadgate to Leadenhall Market to create some truly dramatic images

But the most rewarding part of the day for me, was seeing the creativity of our amazing members and the incredible images they captured.   I really can't wait to see them in next year's competitions.  Don't believe me?  See for yourself in the gallery below!
