From the Chair...

Despite these difficult times happening in the world, it’s great that our camera club is still flourishing and adapting as best we can to the new normality.  Communication is so Important in all our lives and we continually try to embrace this principle in our activities, through our weekly online meetings, with its varied programme.

We have also Increased our recent external activities, with club members organising small group gatherings within Government guidelines. David Eckland has recently organised a London photography walk and Gordon Calder a painting with light Workshop in his home studio, all of which has been very welcomed by club members. In addition Ant (Anthony Highet) has continued to successfully run his model portraiture sessions.

The club has also enhanced its ‘what’s app’ group and is encouraging further communications between weekly meetings to keep in touch.  All of this helps us combat these uncertain times and is there for all club members to enjoy.

Last week was our 2nd PDI league competition with 2 set subjects ‘Movement’ and ‘Textures’. A tremendous response of entries with 78 in total.  The judge for the evening was Alan Taberer who had the difficult task of sorting the excellent Images and ultimately choosing the higher scoring Images.  There were some great Interpretations of both set subjects, the higher scorers are featured in the clubs website gallery.  Thank you to all that entered the competition, giving us all a very enjoyable evening.

Studio Update

In light of current rule of six guidelines, we have been unable to arrange a midweek studio evening so far this year.  This is because we require 6 photographers in attendance to ensure costs to members are kept down, whilst ensuring all costs of the evening such as model fees and studio hire are met.

We do have a few options within our gift, but the committee do not wish to speak on your behalf, and invite you to tell us which of these options you would like us to progress so that you are able to continue the studio photography that so many of you enjoyed last season.

If you are interested in studio photography, or have attended previous studio evenings, please complete this short survey and tell us how you would like us to proceed.

XRR Visions 2020

VISIONS
is a digital image trophy competition, held annually.  It is specifically aimed at individual competitors from any PAGB affiliated club.  There is also the option for three individual entrants to be registered as a club team to compete for a separate trophy.

The individual trophy is presented by XRR PS and retained by the individual winner.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday, 4th November 2020, and the final live judging for Visions will be via a Zoom meeting on Wednesday, 25th November. Judging all entries this year will be Richard Speirs DPAGB APAGB BPE2*.

Visit the Visions 2020 website to enter and for more information.

2019/20 Trophy Winners

In light of the current climate, we have not been able to hold our traditional trophy presentation to celebrate our 2019/20 winners.

Of course we still want to ensure our newly crowned winners receive their trophies.  Whilst we acknowledge the circumstances are less than ideal, the club asks that in these unprecedented circumstances, existing holders arrange a convenient time to hand trophies to their new guardians.  Once handovers are complete, please email Vanessa to let her know.  Certificates are also available by email, that can be printed at home.

Full details of which trophy needs to go where are available in the members area of the Club website.

If you need any additional information or have any queries regarding the transfer of trophies, please contact a member of the committee.
