Club Meetings now ONLINE

Because of the Coronavirus situation, we are no longer meeting at the community centre until further notice. However we are still running the club online.

On Thursday we had our first club programmed meeting, entitled ‘You be the judge’ where the members viewed, passed comment and scored Images that had been entries into the Portrait of Britain competition.

This gave an Interesting and Interactive evening, with the members discussing the various merits of each Image before reaching a score from the comfort of their own homes.

The online system was a great technical success with over 20 of our members using it and able to contribute to the discussion with ease. A big thank you to Stuart Craig who controlled and managed the event on the night.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and technical expertise of our talented committee, we Intend to complete the remainder of the published programme for this season, by using this online system.

This Week... Online Competition
Open & "Urban Life"

Our competition this week is technically the third of our print league competitions, however due to the current lockdown this will now take place online, with digital images rather than prints. All scores for these competitions will still be counted towards the league so if your image does well, we will want to see it as a print when the club resumes it's normal meetings at the hall.

We have 66 images to be judged by Rojer Weightman from Stoke Poges Photographic Club.

We'll be using Zoom to do the video conference on Thursday. We know that some of you found it difficult to join the meeting last week because of the "waiting room" system, Stuart would like to apologise for any difficulties you had with this and assures us that there will not be a waiting room for the next meeting. You will go straight to the main meeting when you join.

Please MUTE your microphone during the formal parts of the meeting. You can of course chat at the beginning and at the tea break between the two competitions, but note that our judge will be able to hear you so keep comments polite please!

Here are the joining details...

We are very sad to let you know that Stan McCartin passed away in an Edinburgh hospice earlier this week after a two year battle with cancer.

Stan visited Croxley regularly over many years, so often that many of us will think of him as both a friend and mentor. As Chairman of the CACC he will be remembered fondly by club members for his entertaining and encouraging comments while judging our competitions, always bringing his wicked sense of humour to the evenings along with giving us something new to learn. He will be sadly missed.
