Rights Action sends our best wishes –and respect- to newlyweds Karen Spring & Edwin Espinal
With the current now-permanent-crisis of tens of thousands of refugees fleeing Honduras annually, it’s important to keep our focus on the root causes of this suffering, desperation and flight, and to support the political prisoners who have struggled to denounce and protest the endemic (since the 2009 U.S. and Canadian-backed military coup) corruption, repression, violence, criminality and impunity of the regime in power.]
Gathered in the “La Tolva” chapel, upon completion of the October 18, 2018 marriage ceremony, L-R: Prisila Alvarado (Comité por la liberación de presos políticos), Mery Agurcia (COFADEH), Raul Alvarez (political prisoner, detained Jan.19, along with Edwin), Edwin Espinal, Grahame Russell (Rights Action), Karen Spring (Honduras Solidarity Network) and Karina Flores (Comité por la liberación de presos políticos).
Let us turn the bittersweet marriage of Karen Spring (human rights expert and activist, director of Honduras Solidarity Network) and Edwin Espinal (nation-wide respected activist and supporter of community human rights and territorial defense struggles) -- who were forced to say their vows under oppressive conditions in the “La Tolva” maximum security military jail -- into a renewed struggle to free all political prisoners so that they and all Hondurans can have the future that our governments and theirs – and multiple global companies, investors and banks -- have stolen from them.
Spread this information, the Wedding site and their struggle far and wide.
