Accessible & accurate trans news and information from around Asia Pacific

Dear APTN friends,

Approaching the Trans Day of Visibility on the 31st of March, we have good news coming from our advocacy department.

Our Human Rights and Advocacy Manager, Madhura Chakraborty and Senior Human Rights and Advocacy Officer, Nhuun Yodmuang attended Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development as LGBTI constituency and APTN’s representative to address issues faced by the LGBTI people in the Asia Pacific region. On this occasion, we delivered key demands statement from the LGBTI constituency to be reviewed by the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in 2022: SDG 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 14 (Life below water), 15 (Life on Land), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The video about our key demands speech as well as the original text will be available here.

Other than that, we will have an Instagram LIVE event collaborating with ASEAN SOGIE Caucus to present some updates on human rights and advocacy matters for trans people in Southeast Asia. Stay tuned via Instagram through @aseansogiecaucus or @weareaptn. We hope to see you there!

In this newsletter, we also feature some of the events celebrating TDoV around the region. How do you celebrate TDoV? Tell us more!

APTN wishes you a happy Transgender Day of Visibility!

Regards,
