Beautiful new fabric

Victoria Park by Marcus Fabrics

Check out this lovely new fabric which jumped out of a couple of boxes this week! This is the very first range designed by our Australian, Karen Styles. Each design is a reproduction of an English design from years gone by. I just love the freshness of the range, and the larger prints are nice to see.
I have just popped all 23 designs on the website ( $22 / metre ), and some of my special pre-cuts, pictured below.

What is Sandy sewing?
Well it would be a bit obvious if you know me that I'd just have to play with these new fabrics!!
I think these lovely designs are well-suited to paper piecing, yet some of the larger prints need to be showcased, so I decided to make frames for them from hexagons.......
Do you like?
I am thinking this will grow to be a quilt.....a new design and pattern by Shiralee Stitches! Can't hang around now to write anymore....gotta get sewing!!...lol..
If you'd like to make a head start on these cute diamond frames, you'll need a fat quarter pack of this lovely Victoria Park range, available here... and if you write in the order notes that you've seen this on my newsletter, I'll throw in a pack of 1" papers as a complimentary 'first newsletter' gift! You can buy the template to go with these papers here, and you'll be all set to race me at sewing them!
In the next newsletter I'll give you a tutorial on how to get started on making and joining these hexagons for those of you who are new to English paper piecing.
Featured Product
I thought I'd share with you one of my favourite products, and one I've been using a lot this week as I have been doing lots of paper piecing.
I always develop a sore spot on one of my fingers and the needle knows how to find that spot all too easily, and the pain is unbearable when it does! Well, with these little adhesive leather dots, my sewing becomes pleasurable again, the sore spot is covered, yet there's no awkwardness that I find when attempting to use a thimble......I'm all fingers and thumbs when I pop a thimble on.....
A set of 12 of these ThimblePad dots is a mere $14, but I think their value is immeasurable.
You'll find them here on my website.
