Looking Back:
Ten Amazing Things God Has Done in the Last Four Years

In a few weeks, we will reach the end of our 2013-2017 term. In all the preparations to go—filing reports and planning presentations, we’ve been spending time looking back over the last four years and celebrating what God has done. Here are a few of the incredible things that we’ve been privileged to be a part of in the last four years.
  • Togo Kids Camp: We were able to teach over 3,000 kids at a regional kids camp in Togo. It was an amazing experience to have 28+ churches work together to organize and prepare this camp. We were one of the featured speakers and saw God touch hundreds of kids’ lives.
  • Sunday School shelters:  43 new Sunday School shelters built, and at least 33 more are currently in progress. The Sunday School Shelter Project has now been launched in four different countries with at least five more in the wings.
  • Children’s Ministries Book:  Our Children’s Ministries book was completed in 2016, and is being used in Bible schools across Africa. It is also being translated into multiple languages.
  • Ministering in Twelve African Countries, and one in Europe:  Since 2013, we’ve worked in Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Cameroon, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Gabon, Congo, Ghana, Botswana and Austria.
  • Teacher-Training for hundreds of teachers: At least ten different teacher-training seminars for Sunday school teachers in nearly all of the countries listed above.
  • Workshop in a Box Video Training Seminar:  We completed a video-based training seminar and accompanying materials, which is already in use and for which demand is growing.
  • Curriculum Writers Training: Hands-on training with writers developing their own curriculum for entire nations that includes low-resource, creative lessons. We have trained groups of missionaries and national workers in three different nations this term.
  • Principles For Life Curriculum: One full year of this low-resource, creative curriculum completed. The second year is in the final edit process and all the lessons for the third year have been written.
  • Mentoring and Partnering with Children’s Ministry Leaders: Building relationships with National Children’s Ministry leaders is one of the keys to building children’s ministries. We have been honored to lead several leadership development seminars and workshops on a regional, national and even international levels.
  • Children’s Evangelistic Outreaches: We have had the privilege of organizing, leading or participating in 10+ evangelistic outreach events over the last two years where hundreds of children have experienced the saving love of Jesus Christ at 10+ evangelistic outreach events.
This list is far from complete and we wish we had the space to share with you all the individual stories behind each one of these. We would like to thank each one of you for your support over this past term. Without you, this would not have been possible.

Looking Forward: The Next 4 Years

We are coming home!  For us, that means seeing our children—we haven’t seen our son in nearly two years, and our daughter since Christmas. It means extended family and friends we’ve missed. It means sharing a meal with many of you, a cup of coffee, or a Coke, and telling you in person what God has done!

We are also excited about sharing the new vision that God has placed on our hearts for the next four years. While we will continue to do many of the things listed above, God has opened a new and exciting direction- not a change in ministry but an expansion of our current one.  All I can say here is, “Basecamp Training Center."

We would love to share this vision with each one of you, so please let us know how we can best connect: a church service, a small group meeting, a meal together, or even over a cup of coffee. We appreciate how faithfully you’ve walked this journey with us and we want to keep you updated as we move forward together.
Looking Up: Prayer Requests
  1. Scheduling Services: Our time in the US is limited to just 12 months. Pray that God helps us be in the right place at the right time to make the most of every opportunity.
  2. Moving logistics:  There are a million details to be taken care of during this kind of transition. Pray for us as we finish closing up here, finding housing in the US, buying a car, traveling, and all the other details.
  3. Budget for the upcoming term:  We don’t even have a final budget yet, but we know we will need to raise a considerable amount of funds to do what God is calling us to do. Please pray that the God of the Harvest will provide the tools.
  4. Details for the upcoming term: There are a lot of decisions to be made, and we feel like we are venturing into unknown territory next term. Pray for wisdom and for all the details to fall into place.
  5. Personal needs: It’s the end of a term and we are excited to come home, but we are tired. Please pray for rest, renewal, and spiritual refreshing, even as we gear up for the work of Itineration.
