BPD Awareness Week 2019 - Oct 1-7
The 2019 branding and logotype has been selected after extensive consultation with people living with BPD, carers and others. A document advising how those with lived experience can become part of the campaign will be released shortly. If you or your organisation wish to organise events please email bpdawareness@gmail.com
New SA BPD Service opens 1 July 2019!
The BPD Collaborative (BPD Co) is South Australia's new state-wide service - open from 1st July 2019! It will deliver supports and services to people of all ages living with severe and complex BPD, with a focus on services for new parents, young people with emerging BPD, Aboriginal people, people from LGBTQIA+ communities and in the criminal justice system. Read more
BPD Co Model of Care
The BPD Co Model of Care will be rolled out across SA over time and has been developed to meet differing levels of clinical need for people with BPD. It includes the development of Assessment and Brief Intervention Clinics (ABiCs) - modelled on the Gold Card approach developed by Project Air - and short term follow up, as well as further development of pathways of care for people with severe and complex BPD. There will be an expansion of evidence-based group therapies, and dedicated training and capacity-building for clinicians across the state. In addition a research and evaluation process will ensure quality and innovation within an evidence-based framework. Download
Peer Support for People with Personality Disorder
Project Air have released a Facilitator Manual for a peer and clinician co-facilitated group program for people living with personality disorders. This is in response to concerns over the difficulties with accessing treatment and services for people living with personality disorders The manual defines peer support, lists key principles, and guidelines for maintaining boundaries and understanding triggers. The 10-session program is clearly laid out (with checklists), and includes fact-sheets, resources and grounding/relaxation exercises. The guide also covers facilitators wellbeing. Download
Petition - 40 funded Better Access visits per year for BPD
Currently there are just over 11,800 signatures on change.org. Help us to make the next milestone – 15,000! Encourage your family and friends and colleagues (maybe even your Doctor) to sign and keep the momentum going. The petition is requesting an increase in the number of funded visits for treating BPD by the MBS Better Access to Mental Health Initiative, from 10 sessions to 40 sessions, for BPD and other complex mental illnesses. We plan to deliver the petition to Greg Hunt MP, who remains Australia's Minister for Health after the recent election.
