BPD eLearning Program
eLearning LogoStage 2 of the National BPD Training Strategy is now available online for mental health workers and service providers. ‘Effective psychological Treatment for BPD’ is a series of 5 modules with the knowledge and skills needed to provide evidence-based
treatment and support to a person with BPD and their family/carers. The Foundation is proud to be associated with

SANE BPD Ambassador
SANE BPD AmbassadorAaron Fornarino became unwell at 14, and was eventually diagnosed with BPD many years later. He has gone on to find fulfilling work and an especially supportive therapist who helped him learn to manage his illness. He now serves as a peer ambassador for SANE Australia, where he advocates for better education about mental illness and better access to mental health services. Read more
 
Lifeline DBTeen Therapy
lifeline logoCarissa Wright credits DBT therapy with saving her life, as shared with Josh Zimmermann of the Sunday Times, WA. BPD Treatment Experiences
It's very hard for me to say anything positive': A qualitative investigation into BPD treatment experiences in the Australian context
SANE article imageSANE's recent spotlight report on Personality Disorders has led to this research article focusing on the interviews and focus groups. Recently published in the Australian Psychologist this is the first peer-reviewed article from the Anne Deveson Research Centre (ADRC). The findings conclude 'that people living with BPD are struggling to access timely, affordable and individualised treatment and support.'Future research should consider how the system could be modified or restructured to better support recovery for these individuals and others with complex mental illness.' Petition - 40 funded Better Access Visits for BPD
ValidatedCurrently there are just over 11,000 signatures on change.org. Help us to make the next milestone – 15,000! Encourage your family and friends and colleagues (maybe even your Doctor) to sign and keep the momentum going. The petition is requesting an increase in the number of funded visits for treating BPD by the MBS Better Access to Mental Health Initiative, from 10 sessions to 40 sessions, for BPD and other complex mental illnesses. We plan to deliver the petition to Federal Minister Greg Hunt MP.

The SA Branch have been accepted for the Grill'd 'Local Matters' fundraising campaign to support the production of an SA version of the Guide to Accessing Services for Borderline Personality Disorder. The month is yet to be allocated.

Members of the NSW Branch are working towards a SANE Forum topic for BPD Awareness Week, how to support carers to accompany lived experience people attending conferences such as TheMHs, and funding opportunities.

The WA Committee have mapped out their work this year, and established sub-committees for MHPN meetings, Centre of Excellence campaign, BPD Awareness Week planning and Fundraising to cover their expenses. Next meeting is on 15th May.
