Board Bulletin

October has been a huge month so far with an action-packed BPD Awareness Week in the 1st week of October. It has been a rewarding experience to coordinate the Collaboration Group which encouraged activities around Australia to promote awareness and understanding of BPD.

We are now in conference mode and looking forward to introducing the annual National BPD Conference in Perth on 18th October. The theme is ‘From Stigma to Strength’ and we are hugely appreciative of the wonderful partnership we are enjoying with West Australian Association for Mental Health.

The reach of the Foundation is steadily expanding with the West Australian branch having been launched during BPD Awareness Week. We are delighted to know the branch already has 28 members! Maybe ACT and Queensland next year?

Please do let the editors of the eBulletin and ‘The Advocate’ know of any training or events happening in your area so that all information can be widely spread. Letters to the Advocate, expression of views, research articles etc. are all very welcome. We would like to make these publications as interactive as possible.

Best wishes

BPD Management Plans
Image BPD Management PlanBPD management plans can help health professionals clarify their role and actions, and avoid inconsistency or chaos among treatment providers, validate the person’s concerns, and help evoke empathy in health professionals and others involved in the person’s care. A tailored management plan, including crisis plan, should be developed by the main clinician, in collaboration with the person with BPD and others involved in their care, if appropriate and they have given consent.
