Improved Attitudes about BPD
A recently released study from University of Wollongong Clinician attitudes towards borderline personality disorder: A 15-year comparison shows a positive shift in attitudes towards the successful treatment of BPD. Mental health nurses attitudes were reviewed in a 15 year study performed at a NSW public health service. Training was significant in contributing to the increase of positive attitudes.  Read more

Dr Martha Kent retired from the State Chair role as she has accepted a position on the SA BPD Centre of Excellence Steering Committee. This is wonderful news for the development of the new state service, as her skills and experience will make a great difference. Tony Greenrod has stepped into the position and we welcome his calm guiding expertise. The Committee has recently extended Expressions of Interest to invite passionate clinicians to join the team.

Uni of Sydney Gambling Treatment & Research Clinic

These free 12-week DBT groups are held in a gambling clinic, so priority places will be held for people with gambling problems, but they are open to all who want to learn DBT Skills. Groups will have a mindfulness component, some distress tolerance, and vary between offering a focus on either emotion regulation or interpersonal effectiveness. Calm Kids Central
Do you work with or have children aged 5-11 who struggle with anxiety, worry, coping with friendships at school, managing frustration, attention or following instructions?  Would like support, supervision, ideas and help online? Calm Kid Central is an online program run by child psychologists - that helps kids feel calm, confident and co-operative. They have recently been funded by the Australian Federal Government (via Adelaide Primary Health Network) to provide completely free access for one year to 325 families in the Adelaide Metropolitan area.  At this stage, places are limited to families who have a government issued Health Care Card.
