This year is full-steam ahead already with some very interesting events raising awareness of BPD.

The 2nd Webinar in Stage 1 of the National BPD Training Strategy went live on Wednesday 21st February, 2018 - with 1742 attendees! This webinar focused on treatment principles for people living with BPD. Panellists included A/Prof. Sathya Rao (VIC - Psychiatrist), Ms. Teresa Stevenson (WA - Psychologist) and Mr. Aaron Fornarino  (SA - Lived Experience). NDIS Mind the Gap Report - Identified Gaps in Psychosocial Disabilities
Image Mind the Gap NDIS reportThe ‘Mind the Gap’ report, compiled by the University of Sydney and Community Mental Health Australia, highlights problems with the current state of the NDIS for people with psychosocial disability. However, with an estimated 690,000 Australian’s living with severe mental ill-health, the most pressing concern is the gap beyond the NDIS for people who aren’t eligible and who risk losing support when funding for existing state and federally run services cease. This means that many people are going to miss out on the services they need.” Download report.

Mahlie featured in MUSE magazine as the consumer voice for BPD
Image Muse Magazine article MahlieMuse magazine published an extensive interview covering Mahlie's history, her response to being diagnosed, and the choices she made around when and how to engage in therapy. In addition, she made some tough calls in making choices about relationships that were not helpful for her, and what behaviours would support her towards recovery. Mahlie is philosophical about her past experiences, and now chooses to channel her talents into advocacy for people with lived experience of BPD, and breading down the stigma barriers of people in the helping professions.
