My, How Time Flies...

I must admit, you fellow alumni are impressive with your great and diverse interests and accomplishments.  Looking back over the last two dozen newsletters, we've had quite a run of events and professional milestones.  Dan Kipp, D'86, and his firm, City Capital Ventures, continues to outmaneuver the competition and make headlines with savvy growth capital investments, all while Nick Moran, D'08, and his firm, New Stack Ventures, has become Chicago's hottest seed stage powerhouse with performance metrics far surpassing industry benchmarks.  In addition, New Stack is also hosting a D'20 summer intern as future graduates look to get involved in the venture capital asset class.

But we're not all about financial wizardry.  Willard (call me "Googan") Bunn, D'68, remains a staunch Darden supporter and always ready to help anyway he can.  Raymond Lambert, D'87, has a new project (more on that below) and is still the most interesting alumni that you should all get to know.  Tze-Liang Chiam, D'04, is always open to talking with students and alumni.  Caroline O'Sheasy, D'10, from Google has hosted events and is driving the company's west loop growth.  Larissa Hawkes, D'11, continues to push herself beyond her 5x Iron Man finishes.  Michael Humenansky, D'14, is pairing alumni with non-profits for volunteer opportunities via Compass (more on that below).  Plus, the Movers & Shakers that always find their way to the top.

Where are the interns and new grads you ask?  This year we have eight interns with the usual suspects; Danaher, McKinsey, Accenture, EY, and KPMG.  We also have six D'19 full time starts with McKinsey, Deloitte, BCG and Uber (see details below).  Plus, September 30 is our annual prospective student event with Dean Beardsley (see details below).

Goodbye Chicago.  Hello Ireland.
After growing Schneider Electric's US Power Solutions business 10x in four years, Kelly Becker, D'08, was promoted to Country President of Ireland.  With Brexit poised on the horizon, it will be interesting times to be leading a country when surrounded by such geopolitical change.
Anyone else forsee a future Darden General Managers Taking Action case study?  Keep your eye on this one, you're going to see her on the cover of leadership magazines someday soon.
So proud of you Kelly !!!
Always your #1 fan :)
Punch 9 for Harold Washington

Raymond Lambert, D'87, continues to produce great films and his next project, Punch 9 for Harold Washington, just launched its fundraising campaign.

For those new to Chicago,

Harold Washington made history as Chicago’s first Black mayor. But he was much more than that.

He fought a duel – to the death – with the nation’s last great political machine. As he brought the Civil Rights movement into City Hall, his opponents fought him at every turn. By the end, old Polish ladies pushed their husbands aside to dance with him at neighborhood festivals.

Today, racism in politics has taken an ugly turn, threatening to erase decades of progress. Now is the perfect time, and this is the perfect story, to inspire a new generation to create lasting change. This new documentary film will tell the story of Washington’s rise in politics, brawls with his opponents, and reckon with his national impact. They need your support to make it happen.

Please join Dean Scott Beardsley in Chicago on Monday, September 30, for a joint Alumni/Admissions evening event at the JW Marriott.  He is looking forward to sharing news from the School with all of you. And do feel free to bring guests if you know of anyone interested in attending Darden.
Christian Wiltrout, D'00, moved to become President of SureWerx USA
Chad Rynbrandt, D'01, moved to become the VP of Finance & Operations for Wheaton College

Patrick Ryan, D'10, was promoted to Director, Policy Analysis & Development at Exelon Utilities
Tom Minoff, D'14, was promoted to Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting
Dwight Emerine, D'14, was promoted to Assistant General Manager at Amazon
Herbert Haas, D'15, was promoted to Principal at BCG
Adam Hazzout, D'15, was promoted to Manager at Deloitte Consulting
