E-NEWS FOR THE WEEK OF February 10, 2019
In late January, Anglicans for Life President, Deacon Georgette Forney wrote “I’m rarely speechless, but I must admit the news of the Reproductive Health Act (RHA) being passed and instantly signed by Governor Cuomo in New York left me without words.” ( LINK TO HER LETTER)

This legislation and other proposed legislation in other states, legalizing abortion in the third trimester, and some even authorizing refraining from medical care after a child has been born are of great concern. Our Archbishop, Foley Beach, addressed this subject in a recent letter to all our churches. You may find it hereAbortion is a tragedy for both the children that are killed in their mothers' wombs, and for mothers (and fathers) who somehow are deceived into thinking that their unborn children are not made in the image of God, and may therefore be discarded. There are serious physical, psychological and spiritual consequences for those who have had abortions, including increased rates of depression, addiction, and suicide.

As a parish we support the work and ministry of  the Lowcountry Pregnancy Center. In March they are holding the annual fund raising banquet. There is already one table of CSP members attending the banquet. If you would like to sponsor another table or attend the details follow. Please continue pray for this important ministry and for women who have had abortions, for their healing, as well as for our nation, as we are faced with the challenge of a secular culture's ever increasing devaluing of human life.

Praying like Jesus

Saturday, March 2nd

9:00am - 12:30pm
To help us prepare for a more meaningful season of Lent, a special class, Praying like Jesus, is being offered on Saturday, March 2nd, from 9-12:30pm.

Do you find Jesus’ life of prayer exciting, challenging, or baffling? In this class on prayer you will learn that, with the Holy Spirit’s guidance, Jesus invites you into a life of prayer with access to the same resources that he enjoyed. This class is open to everyone interested in basic instruction on how to pray for yourself and for others.
The Rev. John Burley, Associate Rector at St. Andrew's Church, will be our special guest leading this class on prayer. Fr. John and his wife Gale spent 22 years serving in Virginia churches and now enjoys the gentler climes of Mt. Pleasant, where he also servers in pastoral care.

The Ministry of Altar Guild
A gift of time and talent to serve God in His house
We are very excited that Stacy Fleming has stepped up to lead the Altar Guild at CSP. "Altar Guild is a part of worship that I love and it is very special to me."
This ministry is a quiet, yet very important and meaningful service to God and his church. The duty of the altar guild is to prepare all the things necessary for the celebration of the Eucharist and care for the linens of the church.

If anyone has an interested in serving in this ministry, Stacy would love to talk to you. Being on the Altar Guild is not very time consuming and their are duties for those who attend the 8am or 10am service.

Weekly Family Question: Use as a little break from homework!
Our Spiritual gifts merely the things that God has made you good at doing? Why or why not, and how does that practically effect the way you serve the church?

Andrew's response to last week: How do you know if you are walking in the Light? What are some guidelines that God gives us to know if we are doing what He desires?

1 John has a lot to say about walking in the Light. Walking in the Light has to do with imitating Jesus' obedience to the Father's Desires. It is about loving God's Kingdom and being a part of it. Scripture and Jesus' life gives us examples of what that means to live for God's Kingdom. If I had to summarize it up, it would be loving God and Trusting in His desires and plans for you which always leads to loving your neighbor as yourself.
E-mail Andrew if you have any questions!
Mark your calendars for June 17-21, 9am - noon for VBS & YouthQuest
