E-NEWS FOR THE WEEK OF January 13, 2019
Annual Parish Celebration
Reflecting on another year of ministry together and following God's call in 2019.
This Sunday, January 13th, at 5:00pm
We will begin the evening with a parish wide covered dish dinner. The vestry is providing grilled chicken and the drinks, please bring a side to share.
After dinner, we will meet in the church for a time of worship, elect new vestry members, and Diocesan convention delegates.

Our experience over the past several years has led us to continue the practice of nominating only enough nominees to fill the vacancies. Through prayerful discernment, the nominating committee (JoCarol Ayer, Steve Coffin, & Gerry Graves) has selected those persons who will best serve Christ-St. Paul's and fulfill the scriptural requirements for those undertaking the awesome responsibility of leadership in Christ's church. All nominees must give their permission to be nominated and agree to abide by the guidelines of vestry service. (Click to read guidelines)

As always, nominations will be accepted from the floor. The following parishioners have been nominated to serve on the vestry.
Nelson Huggins
Business owner and former Junior Warden
Nelson and his family have been faithfully worshipping and participating in ministry at CSP since 2010. This year, they made the move from West Ashley to Hollywood, allowing for more ministry involvement.

"I am ready and willing to serve the Body of Christ in and among those at CSP and our Community."
Terry Jenkins
Newly retired and former Senior Warden
Terry and Helen live in Summerville and have a second home on the Toogoodoo. CSP has been their church home for nearly 15 years. Terry is active in our LEM Ministry and volunteers during the week of VBS.
"I look forward in humbling excitement to seeing how the Lord will guide us in His service at home and abroad as wee seek to be greater witnesses in growing His kingdom. May I and we be ever mindful of His leadership in our lives and that of our parish family. Thanks be to God. Amen."
Mary Prince
Bisness owner and leads Global Missions
Mary and her husband Pat, live on Johns Island and have attended CSP since 2011. She has been hugely helpful in leading the financial audits required by the Diocese in addition to her work with missions. Both Mary and Pat are active in our LEM Ministry.
"God has laid a special burden on my heart the last few months for Christ-St. Paul's so I was very excited when someone approached me about vestry service."

Weekly Family Question: Talk over Sunday Night's Dinner!
Let's pretend you had to write a report to God about how you served Him this year. What would you write down? Would you feel good with what you had to say? How does the Father see our report when He reads it?

Andrew's response to last week: Have you ever made a New Year's Resolution that you ended up not falling through with? Have you ever become too rigid about a New Year's Resolution and missed out on something important? How can our New Year's Resolutions help us point to our brokenness and our need for a savior?
All of the time. I almost always fall through on my New Year's Resolution or even worse. Even worse, while I am following my New Year's Resolution, I can become so rigid that I put following the New Year's Resolution above more important things (very similar to the Pharisees putting their traditions before God). This parallel's my walk with Christ because I end up always failing Him. Fortunately, unlike a New Year's Resolution where once I fail I have to wait till the following year to try again, I can at any time choose to repent and follow Christ again. Let us repent this year, turning our love back to Him who first loved us and is willing to take us back when we fall short.
E-mail Andrew if you have any questions!
