End-of-Year Appeal

This holiday season, we extend our warmest thanks and appreciation to all our partners who have helped us protect some of the most threatened species on our planet. This year we celebrate the great strides we have made in many areas, especially in South Africa for the beautiful Geometric Tortoise, for which we established the 212-acre Geometric Tortoise Preserve. There is still an urgent need of funds for the expansion of this preserve to 1,100 acres, which we hope to raise in the near future. This land is a key habitat not only for this Critically Endangered tortoise, but also for the many threatened flora and fauna that live there. In terms of botanical species, this region is one of the richest on Earth for biodiversity.

In the past 40 years over half of the world’s wildlife populations have disappeared. This is a crisis of epic proportions that needs your help before it is too late.

Now is the perfect time to give back to our planet by supporting our efforts to protect turtles and tortoises, the most threatened group of animals on Earth.

Your generosity will enable the Turtle Conservancy to achieve the following goals:

Expand the Geometric Tortoise Preserve in South Africa from 212 acres to 1,100 acres.

Purchase 43,000 acres in the Chihuahuan Desert for the protection of the Bolson Tortoise and all the biodiversity of this ecosystem.

Continue to protect the Ploughshare Tortoise from the wildlife trade.

Send captive-hatched Critically Endangered Golden Coin Turtles back to China from our conservation breeding center in California.

The TC continues the most successful captive breeding program outside of Myanmar for the Burmese Star Tortoise

Support our captive breeding facility, the Behler Chelonian Center,
in southern California.

A private donor has so generously offered to match all end-of-year donations up to $30,000 so please consider giving today! We could not do this important work without all of you—thank you!
