Join the Potluck Gathering on
Wednesday, December 28, 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Murrysville Community Library

Open to anyone interested in learning & sharing information about healthy, plant-based food choices.

   Amidst your holiday plans and preparations, do remember to come to our End-of-Year POTLUCK PARTY on Wednesday, Dec. 28. Please bring a plant-based Appetizer or Dessert to share {along with a copy of the recipe} and GUESTS!! I will bring paper products and drinks.
I reserved the adjoining room, so we will have plenty of space for family and friends -- a great opportunity for the 'uninitiated' to taste a variety of plant-based dishes. And, you'll get recipe ideas for New Year's celebrations, football playoff parties, and the like!

From Medical News Today ... The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics published a paper in support of "appropriately planned" vegetarian/vegan diets as being the best for our health and our environment.

A class for those wanting to learn the fundamental what/why/how's of whole-food, plant-based eating. You will receive information and resources about how to implement and maintain a plant-centered diet. A great opportunity for a fresh start to 2017!
FREE, but you must register in advance; seating is limited.
Basics of Plant-Centered Eating, Part 2
Saturday, February 11, 10 am.-noon
Murrysville Community Library
, 4130 Sardis Rd.
Additional aspects of plant-based eating, including reading food labels, dining out, and reinforcing habits. A continuation of the January class, though you need not have attended Part I to participate in this session.
FREE, but you must register in advance; seating is limited.

Breakfast Ideas and Recipes

In previous meetings we discussed easy breakfast preparations. Here is a link for ideas and photos (though not all are vegan) from Jenny Sugar, POPSUGAR Photography, including:
  • overnight oats
  • pre-cooked breakfast bars
  • cooking & freezing whole grains in advance
  • pre-assembled freezer packs with smoothie ingredients
  • frozen servings of pureed beans to add to cooked cereals, smoothies, or veggie scrambles
  • pre-packaging your own pancake mix
From Lindsay Nixon at MealMentor:
Eggnog ONOs (serves 1)
*  ½ cup dry rolled oats
*  ½ cup (4-oz) soy or almond milk
*  ground cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves
*  1 banana
Directions: 
1. Add oats, milk, & dash of each spice in bowl or jar.
2. Cover; refrigerate overnight.
3. Before serving, mash banana and mix in.
