Hi Parents,

There is still a ways to go to get through the pandemic, but it is exciting to see some significant progress!  Case numbers are decreasing, warmer weather is opening chances to be outside more, and people we know are being newly vaccinated each day!  To that end, discussions have begun about resuming some in-person opportunities in the Children's Ministry and for the church.  Stayed tuned for those details as they evolve!!  :)

FPC has taken a difficult position over the past year so that our church might not be engaging in ways that would contribute to community spread.  That was for the best, but it has been hard on all of us.  I would say it has been hardest on our children!  They miss their church, miss their church friends, and miss the leaders who love and care about them.  It has been possible to do some really great things virtually that have been an encouragement to the faith of kids and families, but it's been a loss for us all to not have regular in-person connections!   Yet, as area case numbers continue to go down and the number of vaccinated people goes up, we are looking forward to new opportunities to connect with each one of you coming soon!  FPC is still highly committed to maintaining a high degree of safety, but with things trending in the right direction, we can do that with integrity.

So sometime over the next few days, have a little family Praise Party!  Engage with your kids in a faith conversation about this.  Things are getting better!  God is behind every good thing!  We prayed, and it didn't happen quickly, but God is faithful and things are now improving.  We have a lot of reasons to Praise God!  As a family, talk about what God's been teaching your family over the past year.  What good things can you thank God for that wouldn't have happened if it weren't for the pandemic?

This Lent, be continually on the lookout for opportunities to recognize God at work all around you and to draw closer to Christ.

 VBS July 18-22

This will definitely be our date and theme for VBS!  This is later than usual on account of school letting out later and the unknowns of the pandemic.  Last year we had a safe and successful VBS by staying outdoors, distanced, masked, and parents came too as kids stayed in groups with their family.  At the LEAST, we could do that this summer on this week, but we are hoping and praying that things improve significantly with the pandemic where we could safely have a more traditional format.  Stay tuned on the "How", but for now, we wanted to at least share the "What?" and the "When?"

Children's Choir rehearsals have resumed and they happen on Thursdays at 4:30 in the Fellowship Hall.   This year we are making music with instruments while properly distanced and masked!   The choir is for children ages four and up.  If you would like to come to try it out, just let Amy Bowman know so she can plan instrument parts for the right amount of children.   Email if you're interested or would like more information!

We would love to get some students together in-person outdoors, and what better thing to do would be to have some fun in the snow together.  Stay tuned when we have snow on the ground- we'll send out an email and a message to the CM text list to invite people to get together at Jim Barnett Park.  We can build snowmen and go sledding.  We will do social distancing, and masks will be optional.  The plan is to give parents a choice to drop-off or stay and fellowship.
Look for this again if we get another snow, but it may be that spring is here to stay!  (I'm hoping that's true!) Perhaps we'll do a different kind of meet-up when it's warm!
