Countdown 2030 Europe participated at the Family Planning Summit in London on 11 July, 2017. The Summit succeeded in creating renewed energy around family planning, building on the efforts of the vibrant sexual and reproductive health community. An estimated $5 billion was pledged to increase access to sexual and reproductive health services, which was a huge step in the right direction! However, we also stress that more does need to be done, and that current commitments do not address the funding crisis facing global family planning programmes. If the world is to meet the target to extend contraceptive access to 120 million additional women and girls by 2020, European leadership and European funding will be crucial.
