Countdown 2030 Europe holds governments to account at the High Level Political Forum

 


Countdown 2030 Europe participated at the High Level Political Forum (HLFP) in New York in July, which provided a great opportunity for partners to advocate towards their governments and other Member States on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Family Planning (SRH/FP)-related indicators, best practices and lessons learned, as well as gaps and challenges in improving SRH/FP.  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 5, including universal access to sexual and reproductive health, were at the centre of the HLPF. Countdown 2030 Europe members contributed in several ways, including as part of their governments’ delegations.

“Unveiling the SDGs’ Silent Killer”: Barriers to Contraceptive Access for Young People in Uganda

 



Sophie Nabukenya, a youth activist with Plan Uganda, is calling for young people to be included in the drafting, design and implementation of all policy processes. She highlights that stigma, a lack of sexuality education, inadequate funding, and poor youth-friendly services are all huge barriers to contraceptive access in Uganda.

Working towards additional funding for SRH/FP in the 2018 EU Annual Budget

 



Countdown 2030 Europe Brussels-based partners successfully proposed amendments to the EU Annual Budget 2018 on human development. The Annual Budget is a key instrument to ensure that EU commitments towards Sexual and Reproductive Health and Family Planning (SRH/FP) effectively translate into its development cooperation programming.
