Janice Krieger Receives $3 Million Grant for Colorectal Cancer Screening Research

CJC STEM Translational Communication Center Director Janice Krieger and a team of researchers have been awarded a $3.04 million grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to test the efficacy of using virtual technology to increase colorectal cancer screenings. This is one of the largest grants ever received by CJC.

  All 20 CJC finalists in the 4A’s Multicultural Advertising Internship Program were placed in summer internships at top agencies including Publicis Media, Leo Burnett, JWT and Group M. UF had the second highest number of finalists in the program.

Carla Hotvedt, B.S. Journalism 1978, passed away on Jan. 14 at the age of 60. She was a photographer at The Gainesville Sun during an era that saw the newspaper's photo staff produce work on par with much larger newspapers.

Clif Cormier, B.S. Journalism 1962, passed away on Feb. 4 at age 98. Cormier retired from the Marine Corps at age 40 after serving in WWII and the Korean War.

Ted Covington, former WRUF-AM announcer, passed away on Jan. 25 at the age of 96. Covington was the voice of Gator football for three decades until 1971.
