Directors Report

We have welcomed in the first 6 months of the Surf calendar year with summer now upon us. A hive of activity at beach is now a daily occurrence.
As a board we have undertaken many new initiatives to support our large, ever-growing membership, in fact we have had an increase in our overall membership which is testament to the culture and varied offering our proud club provides.
Supporting a growing and existing membership base cannot be achieved without an extremely strong balance sheet, one that has been curated and controlled by the incumbent board giving the new board the opportunity to facilitate ‘futureproofing’ ideas to sustain prospective growth.
The new board has launched the Festival of Food, bar and merch scanners for up to date inventory management, creation of the juniors and youth hub in the basketball area, 4 new rowing machines, replacement of the bar cool room condenser, payment gateway partnership with Westpac, significant investment with $ for $ board and ski purchases, a junior board quiver that is the envy of all clubs and finally launching the Trigg Island Sundowner which will be revealed in the coming days, whereby at time of writing we were deep in negotiations with a major sponsor.
None of our events, food sales or product sales happen without the support teams of amazing volunteers including Anthony O’Shea – bar manager, Ash Palmer – House manager, Marie Waldeck – Merch Manager and Chrisso Savage – our kiosk king. There are numerous volunteers who support this team and many others, and we do have the one thing in common the Trigg Island SLSC.
We continue to work with the City of Stirling to ensure regular maintenance standards are met, and Bronwyn Meldrum now has a direct pathway to the decision maker in the works and scheduling dept. Bron has been instrumental in ensuring ALL requests are now dealt with in a timely manner. Bron has also taken the opportunity to further her skills in program development which will provide the board with much needed publishing and spreadsheet support.
The board will also be presenting a small mid-season review at the up and coming Life members lunch to ensure we listen, learn and utilise the knowledge of members who have lead the path previously.
We will continue to listen to our members and we will support a lot of ideas, even though they may not deliver as planned, enabling us to discover the few that will deliver bigger than anyone imagined.
