Save Medicaid!

On June 6, advocates from across the state -- including The Enrichment Center's Executive Director, Valerie Vizena, and Program Director, Julie Wood -- participated in a pop-up rally to bring awareness to the proposed federal budget that would decimate Medicaid. Hosted by The Arc of NC and the NC Council of Community Programs, it was a great opportunity for advocates to show their support for protecting Medicaid.

Previously, on May 23, The Arc reported that the Trump Administration released its first ten year budget proposal, and the numbers are devastating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families. On top of the more than $800 billion in Medicaid cuts already approved by the House of Representatives, the Trump Administration is planning for $610 billion in cuts to Medicaid; $72.4 billion in cuts to Social Security’s disability programs; and hundreds of billions more in cuts to other effective federal programs that are vital to people with I/DD.

“Where we invest our federal dollars is a measure of our values as a nation," said Peter Berns, CEO of The Arc. "Today the Trump Administration showed its cards, and, coupled with the devastating Medicaid cuts already approved by the House of Representatives in the health care bill, the deck is stacked against people with disabilities."

Fantastic Opening for GROWING FANTASIES

We had a fantastic night at Gateway Gallery for the opening of GROWING FANTASIES! Special thanks to our guest artist -- Derek Cernak, Animation Director at Out of Our Minds Animation Studios

Growing Fantasies showcases original sculptures created using Broken Egg Wall Sculptures provided by our longtime supporter, the Phillips Collection. Accompanying the sculptures is a series of fantastical digital photographs. Many of the pieces in this show were previewed in the International Buyers Center at the spring High Point Market.
