Thank You Teachers!

It's National Teacher Appreciation Day, and we think our teachers are awesome! THANKS to each of them for all they do for The Enrichment Center's students. Their work is critical to fulfilling our mission to empower individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities through growth, dignity and choice; and, most importantly, helping our students live a great life -- the best life possible!
Friday, May 19 | 5-7pm

Join us for the opening reception of Gateway Gallery's exhibit GROWING FANTASIES, featuring the Artists of Gateway Studios and special guest artist Derek Cernak, Animation Director at Out of Our Minds Animation Studios. Artwork in this exhibit will be available for sale, along with many unique, one-of-a-kind pieces found in Gateway Gallery’s gift shop.

Growing Fantasies showcases original sculptures created using Broken Egg Wall Sculptures provided by our longtime supporter, the Phillips Collection. Accompanying the sculptures is a series of fantastical digital photographs. Many of the pieces in this show were previewed in the International Buyers Center at the spring High Point Market.

Enjoy live music by The Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble, and refreshments by The Enrichment Center's Culinary Arts students.

Growing Fantasies will be on display through July 21.
Gateway Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday, 11am to 4pm, and by appointment.

What Would You Say?

The Arc released the following statement following the House of Representatives passage of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) on May 4:

“Members of the House of Representatives who supported the American Health Care Act voted against their constituents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We won’t soon forget those who so willingly ignored the pleas of their constituents who rely on the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid for comprehensive health care coverage and long term services and supports that enable them to live full lives in the community. We must call this what it is – an attack on the rights and lives of people with disabilities."

Employment Gateway Success at Publix

Congratulations to Jarrett, who's working as a cashier at Publix in Winston-Salem. A graduate of Winston-Salem State University, Jarrett isn't afraid of a challenge! During job training, the team at Publix helped with accommodations to allow Jarrett to sit while working at the cash register. He gives customers courteous service with the Publix attitude of going the extra mile to know the customer and meet their needs. Jarrett's integrity and determination to offer his best to both his employer and his customers makes him a real success story! Way to go, Jarrett!
