The world's oldest bottle of wine. At nearly 1700 years old, it gives new meaning to the term "well aged," doesn't it?
The bottle was found in a Roman tomb near Speyer, Germany, over 150 years ago (so of course it's known as the "Speyer Wine Bottle"), and now it is protected in a museum. Yes, those are little dolphins on the handles. Another Atlas Obscura post alerted me to this, but i found more pictures and information here.
And if you'd like to know where the 7 Oldest Wines in the World are, you can get that info at Oldest.com.
This story's left over from Halloween: Why are some dolls so creepy?
Doll styles and faces actually say a lot about us as a society. How do we view our children, and how do we want them to behave? Dolls reflect some very mixed messages, and that's where the creepiness comes in. This essay from Smithsonianraises more questions than it answers, but it's fascinating.
