I Teach Black Girls Like Me

Teaching Tolerance highlights educators voices in why they teach.

Bria Wright shares her story of the moment that solidified her calling to become a teacher. The moment involves a stapler, a teacher, and the attempt to silence her "Black girl magic" - a moment that she says gave her the purpose to "teach for the little Black girls who are told their voices don't matter." Adapting the California Science Standards for the 2020-2021 School Year

Focus on fewer key science practices and concepts to teach in a cross-disciplinary manner.
To help teachers leverage multiple content areas during instructional time, the San Mateo County Office of Education identified specific CA Science Standards that highlight the most important ("power") practices and crosscutting concepts for K-8th grade students to learn this year. Each Science standard is aligned with specific Common Core English Language Arts or Math standards, which helps teachers to leverage multiple content areas during instructional time. Read more here.
