Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We finally celebrated the official launch of SINFONÍA TRÓPICO the past 20th of November 2014 in Apartadó, Colombia, with a concert and premiere of a unique composition that gathered electronic beats from Bogotá and Berlín, the Colombian fauna sounds and visuals and Bullerengue rythms.
Following the successful concert, our first expeditions took place in the Urabá region, where after some days of get together and talks in Simona del Mar, the artists and scientists of SINFONÍA TRÓPICO split up in two groups. One visited the North of Urabá (Necoclí, San Juan de Urabá, Arboletes), where they experienced cultural encounters with theatre and dance groups and local musicians. They left the SINFONÍA TRÓPICO members impressed with their skills and energy! The other group crossed the Golf of Urabá. The expedition to Acandí and Triganá brought the participants into the rainforest, having the opportunity to get to know the initiatives from the comunity to ensure the preservation of their environment.
Back in Bogotá, we were delighted to follow an invitation of the German Ambassador to Colombia, Mr. Günter Knieß, to present our SINFONÍA TRÓPICO at the occasion of the official visit of the German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development, Dr. Gerd Müller. Carolina Riaño, Lillevan, Miguel Navas, and Caliche (Carlos Manco) presented elements of the concert performed in Apartadó.
We are immensely grateful for this beginning; for the support and the incredible energy of all of you. In 2015, we will keep you informed about the miscellaneous projects that Sinfonía Trópico will be developing in different regions of Colombia.
