The Human Rights Program

In June, Cristosal's Executive Director Noah Bullock traveled to Geneva to participate in the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' annual consultation in Geneva. Diploma Course Participants to Graduate in August Forum
The Community Development Program
After four months, the Community Development's first certificate course is coming to a close. Nearly 60 government and community leaders from Ciudad Arce, Cuscatancingo, and TECHO (a local non-profit organization) received intensive training in human rights, community organizing, and the solidarity economy. Cristosal staff are now working with participants to plan development processes in their home communities, including the organization of a graduation and forum in August. "The course has been a great succes," says Program Director Walter Orantes. "We were able to form integrated teams bringing together government representatives and community leaders. These teams will now be responsible for implementing development process with a human rights focus in their own communities."
Summer Interns Arrive
The Global School
Please join us in welcoming Katy Perry and Miguel Saenz, who recently joined the Cristosal team as summer interns! This is the second year that interns from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY have come to El Salvador to work with Cristosal through a grant from the John Ben Snow Foundation. Katy and Miguel first came to El Salvador in March to participate in a Global School course on women's rights, and will be working to support the Global School's upcoming courses on Human Trafficking and Forced Displacement, as well as Public Theology in July.
