Introducing Catholic Youth Parramatta's
ELEMENTS

“Elements” is a new online initiative by Catholic Youth Parramatta which offers content for youth ministers to use in their respective parishes, schools and movements. It will be distributed monthly.
We look forward to seeing how Elements grows with you. If you wish to discuss the content of this initiative further, contact Qwayne on qwayne.guevara@parracatholic.org.
“Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.” –Pope John XXIII

When It Gets Dark

Sometimes, we find it hard to persevere when pressures in life bring us down. Often we can feel discouraged by our sins, failures and weaknesses. We may feel many emotions that overwhelm us. It sometimes leads to us forgetting that we have people who care about us willing to help through tough times.

This month, we explore the ways in which we can understand suffering and ways to cope with difficult situations. We need to take care of ourselves, understand that God is with us in the darkness and recognize when we need help and reach out to others. We hope that this topic might help young people to open up and learn to trust God and others.

Holy Role Models
St. Dominic was a man sensitive and alive to the world around him. Born in Caleruega in 1170, he later studied in Palencia, and became a canon at the Cathedral of Osma.  Clothed in the distinctive habit of the Order, the Dominican balances the black of penance with the white of purity. In teaching and preaching, the Dominican discovers the artful balance of truth and charity.  o combat the false teachings, Dominic realized the impact that priests with a mandate for itinerant preaching could have if they witnessed to authentic poverty and a purity of heart. Yet Dominic’s vision was universal; he saw a need in the Church which extended beyond the region of Albi. Dominic also established convents of nuns who would pray for the conversion of sinners and also for the fidelity and perseverance of the friars.

Prayer
Prayer is an essential part of your meetings. In this section we suggest a prayer or a creative way to engage in prayer to encourage young people to deepen their prayer lives. This may include songs, guided prayers or meditations. This month we share with you Genevieve Bryant's talent. Last Friday, she joined the youth of Parramatta at Lifted Live, sharing her talent and stories that inspired youth to keep seeking God and to not be afraid to give everything a go. Click below for links to her songs.
