Introducing Catholic Youth Parramatta's
ELEMENTS

“Elements” is a new online initiative by Catholic Youth Parramatta which offers content for youth ministers to use in their respective parishes, schools and movements. It will be distributed monthly.
We look forward to seeing how Elements grows with you. If you wish to discuss the content of this initiative further, contact Qwayne on qwayne.guevara@parracatholic.org.
Anyone who piously and earnestly ponders the Sermon on the Mount — as we read in the Gospel according to Mathew — I believe he will find therein… the perfect standard of the Christian Life.  - St Augustine of Hippo

Beatitudes: The Pursuit of Happiness

Jesus' Sermon on the Mount is one of the greatest sermons given by Jesus. "Beatitudo" means happiness and blessedness. We understand that the 8 Beatitudes proclaimed by Jesus provides us with a guide on to how to be happy! We all desire to be happy and satisfied and here we have the way in which we can pursue living a Christian life - which is challenging, radical and but at the core of it, joyful!

This edition of Elements hopes to share with you resources that allows you, your team and also your young people to better grasp the significance of the Beatitudes and how necessary it is for us in our daily lives.

Videos - Scenes from movies
The first 3 videos can be played at start of the meeting. They are videos of the Beatitudes spoken over related images.

Holy Role Models

Living during the the early persecution of the Church in Africa by the Emperor Severus, Perpetua was a young noblewoman nursing a newborn and Felicity was her slave. As two of the earliest Roman martyrs, the pair are honoured together for their heroism in the face of barbarism. The saints refused to apostatize their Christian faith despite being sentenced to death for it. Felicity gave birth to her daughter just moments before her execution during a ‘celebration games’ in honor of Roman Emperor Septimus Severus’ birthday.

Prayer
Prayer is an essential part of your meetings. In this section we suggest a prayer or a creative way to engage in prayer to encourage young people to deepen their prayer lives. This may include songs, guided prayers or meditations. This month we share with you "
Meditations on the Beatitudes & Daily Life" taken from the Archdiocese of Melbourne. This a great resource to use for on-going reflection meetings on the Beatitudes.
