Workforce Development

Talent Pipeline

The University Talent Pipeline Program is in full swing with CSUSM, SDSU, UC San Diego and USD. The program includes each school promoting member Job Board internship posts and identification of top candidates, spring career fairs (spots still available for CSUSM 5/4), member “how to make the most of your intern” roundtables and Link2Cyber programs. CCOE teamed with EDC on the Link2Defense symposium with USD in February and will be hosting Link2Cyber programs at CSUSM, SDSU, UC San Diego, University of Phoenix, USD and the Navy Region Southwest this spring and fall to introduce students and veterans to San Diego cyber career paths. CCOE also added a cyber career Accelerator to the website, mapping trainings and certifications for those looking to jumpstart a career in cybersecurity.

Job Board

CCOE’s San Diego cybersecurity job board hosted more than 1,057 applications for 109 jobs in Q1 2017 to connect veterans, students, recent grads and seasoned professionals with career opportunities in the region. As a reminder, we now offer automated posting, so please continue to have your HR teams post/automate all cybersecurity positions in the region and don’t forget to complete the quick survey indicating if a job board applicant was hired.
Creating New Business Opportunities

Secure San Diego

CCOE and the City of San Diego convened the first Secure San Diego Stakeholder Forum in February to facilitate collaboration between the cyber industry, academia and the region’s government, municipalities, utilities and transportation agencies with the mission of fostering a secure cyber environment and showcasing San Diego as a hub for cutting-edge technology and solutions.
The Stakeholders identified two primary areas of focus:
  1. Development of a Cyber Response Map
  2. Development of a regional Incident Response Management Plan
Stakeholders are convening project teams and plans of attack to be discussed at the next quarterly Forum in May. The collaborations will culminate in an event during National Cybersecurity Awareness Month to include table-top exercises and scripted scenarios (Hack SD) followed by a program (SD Acts) highlighting how San Diego companies, government, utilities and academia are working together to address potential risks with new technology and solutions.
