Dear members and supporters,
I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.
At the end of March, our tree planting season was ending, recruitment for the 2020 Next Generation Awards were hitting their stride and we had several exciting events planned for you over spring and summer. And suddenly everything changed and now we are all navigating our way through this crisis.
As some of you will know, we took the decision to postpone all planned events until June at the earliest, and are continuing to explore alternative ways to continue promoting civic pride and engaging Birmingham citizens. We will update you on any further changes when we can but in the meantime, see our stories below for how other parts of our work continue.
This is a difficult time for all and there are many things we do not yet know, but we do know that by working together we can make a difference. Across the city (and beyond) we are seeing how people are supporting the more vulnerable, connecting with neighbours and maintaining physical distance to keep each other safe. Seeing the civic ethos that embodies and underpins so much of our work is inspiring.
As you support us, we want to support you and spread the word about how you, your community or organization are helping others - no matter how big or small. Get in touch, through email or social media, and we'll share these stories back with other members and beyond.
Stay safe and best wishes,
Amelia Ladbrook
Chair of the Birmingham Civic Society
