Men and Women’s walks are just around the corner.  With the prayer vigil being 50% filled for both walks, there is a good chance that your spot is available.  Please feel free to sign up online.
Also, if you are bringing agape for the walks, please be sure to include either your gathering name or your name so we can return them back to the appropriate people if there are left overs.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to share God’s love with the team and pilgrims.  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.  Ephesians 6:18

God is good, all the time.
All the time, God is good!

Praise God!  We had a wonderful weekend for the Girls of WNY Chrysalis Flight #18.  It was a “small but mighty” group of girls who attended the flight and we were blessed with an awesome team.  Beautiful weather was an added bonus.
As we know, the purpose of the Walk to Emmaus and Chrysalis is to help build leadership in the church.  Several of these girls followed up their flight by bringing boys to the Boys’ flight and/or by serving the boys as part of Big House.  They got it!  In my mind, there is almost nothing better than to witness young people loving and serving the Lord.
A big “Thank You” to the team and the community, who were such a big help in making this Flight happen.

Lora Keiper is traveling to Nashville (again!)

Four years ago Lora Keiper was asked to accept a three year appointment as a Regional Lay Member to the Emmaus International Advisory Committee.  The Committee meets annually in Nashville, and has Walk to Emmaus representatives from all over the world gather to share in their faith and to help grow this Emmaus movement throughout the World.  In years past Lora has presented our ideas, concerns and joys and has been such a blessing to this committee, that she has been invited back to serve for a unprecedented fourth year!
Expenses for her travel, which is the weekend of October 14th-16th, are to be expected.  If you would like to offer financial support for Lora’s trip to Nashville, you may send a check payable to WNY Walk to Emmaus with a notation on the memo line “Lora’s Nashville trip” to the address below.
We are confident and appreciative of your prayers and support for her. Watch for an update from Lora in the December issue of the Rainbow Connection.

Hello WNY Emmaus Family,

Hamburg United Methodist Church is excited to host the upcoming Walks.  Paul and I have volunteered to organize the Out of Conference Team, and are asking for volunteers to help throughout the weekend with the many jobs that are needed to help assist the Teams and Pilgrims.
We do have one small glitch.  After we agreed to organize the Out of Conference team, Paul has since had rotator cuff surgery, and is out of commission for approx. six months. We call it our “pre-retirement training”.

It is never too early to sign up. Whatever you do, do it as service to Him (Prov. 16:3).

Paul and Sue Gagne

The Upper Room & the International Walk to Emmaus are continuously working to start new Emmaus Communities around the World.  The Gift fund is used directly to help support these communities with needed Supplies, and pilgrim cost.  This past year men & women from Chile attended Spanish Speaking Walks in Georgia & Florida to eventually begin an Emmaus Community in Chile.       In early June of this year Belize hosted their first men’s & women’s walk, as they are moving forward in establishing an Emmaus Community. Central Africa & Eastern . Europe are also moving forward to starting Emmaus communities with the help of The Gift
Annually at the Walk to Emmaus International Advisory Committee meeting in October a collection is taken to support The Gift.  At this meeting Emmaus leaders from around the World gather to discuss concerns, hear of plans & the path for the future, and discuss with other communities of their struggles & bright spots.  In the past about $10,000 has collected at this gathering to be used for The Gift.  If you or your gathering would like to make a donation toward the gift please send any donations to Paul & Mary Kay Williams, your WNY Emmaus treasure.         They will then write a single check that we will present as a WNY Walk to Emmaus Donation for The Gift.  Jim & Lora Keiper will be attending the IAC meeting in October.
If you would like to hear more about The Gift please let us know, we would be glad to share about the positive growth around the world from The Gift.
Jim & Lora Keiper
