Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As you probably know, the WNY Emmaus Board rotates 1/3 of it’s membership each year.  We are still looking to fill a couple of positions that are changing this year. A number of people have been prayerfully considered for the Kitchen but so far those asked have been unable to step into the position at this time. So please anyone who has a heart to serve God making food for the Pilgrims and Team contact us or Darrell Rublee.  This position does not need to be filled by one couple it can be a small group of people who can share the duties of the kitchen amongst themselves.  I can tell you that the Kitchen is one of the best places to be on the weekend.  This is the hub of everything that happens behind the scenes.  Memories are made working Kitchen duty for sure.  It does take a sense of organization and time, but the blessing you receive in return are simply great.  Remember your Walk and how amazed and thankful you were for the Kitchen crew?

Another position that is yet to be filled is Musician.  Chris Klimecko currently holds this position.  He schedules and conducts Musician Workshops to assist new and experienced Musicians learn and review the music we use on the weekends.  He also keeps track of the CCLI license which keeps us in compliance with the law.  In doing so the Musician on the Board is responsible for the music in the WNY Emmaus Songbook.  I have been a musician on many Walks and I can tell you that it's an experience that moves me every time.  You don’t have to play guitar to serve in this position - just a willingness to serve, some organizational skills and an appreciation for how music fits in to the overall Emmaus program.

Finally there is an opening for the Evangelism position.  The person or persons who fill this position are responsible for spreading the word of Emmaus throughout the WNY Community.  Making contact with clergy and lay persons through the Community is essential to getting the word out about the Emmaus movement.  Ideally, there would be several people who would help with this job from different areas (Buffalo Niagara area, Rochester, Southern Tier, etc.).  One person or couple would be the representative to the Board of Directors.  Please pray over these positions.  Be sure to contact one of us or anyone on the Board if you have questions or would like to volunteer.

The Board thanks you for your prayers as we conduct the business of the Community and seek the path forward for Emmaus in Western New York.  We appreciate your suggestions and your help.  Happy Thanksgiving!

DeColores,
Lynn & Pat Blakeman

Dear WNY Emmaus Chrysalis Community

2016 has been an exciting and busy year for the WNY Chrysalis Community. We pursued numerous new initiatives in an effort to reach our youth. The success of these initiatives may not have been as we wished, however God still blessed us with two wonderful flights where His presence was made more real to these young people. We received several letters from butterflies where they expanded upon their “Closing” thoughts. Seeing these letters as a better measure of success than some of our traditional measures, we feel emboldened to continue to explore new initiatives.

One such initiative is a fund raising effort to both cover our portion of the Community insurance as well as fund the weekend fees for all of our new Caterpillars. Our goal is to raise the roughly $3000 needed to cover these expenses. So, this is where you, the WNY Emmaus Chrysalis Community come in. We are asking you to donate to this cause. What did your Weekend mean to you? Did it change your life? Would supporting a new member of the WNY Emmaus/Chrysalis Community be a great gift to pass on to our youth? If you think so, then we are asking you to send your donation of any amount to our Chrysalis treasurers Pat and Stephen Morse.  A pledge form can be downloaded by clicking here.

Thank you so very much for your prayerful support of WNY Chrysalis!

Blessings,

Dan and Tracey Benjamin
