Announcement...
The Board  of Directors are very sorry to announce that Men’s Walk 51, scheduled for October 13-16, has been canceled due to insufficient enrollment.
This was a very difficult decision to  make.  We know this affects the potential pilgrims who did register, the Team, the sponsors and the whole Emmaus community!  Our prayers are with each one affected, as we seek God’s Love and God’s direction and guidance.
It is planned that WOMEN’S WALK #51 will be held, Nov.17-20 at Hamburg United Methodist Church.  Registrations are due Oct. 13th.

Greetings from your Community Lay Directors,
We hope you all had an enjoyable summer. As always, there are many things happening within Western New York:
>The Women's Walk is right around the corner.
>We enjoyed the annual picnic and both the boy's and the girl's flights were a success.
>The annual Christmas party this year will be combined with the Reunion for Walk 51. Details will be forthcoming so watch for more information in future editions of your Rainbow Connection.

Wishing God's blessings on you and your families.

DeColores,
Lynn & Pat Blakeman

The Women’s walk is just around the corner.  Now is the time to prepare to be the light and love of Jesus Christ to the pilgrims.  There are a few ways to do that.  One is to sign up for the prayer vigil.  Surround pilgrims and team with the love of Christ through prayer.

Another way to show love is to give the gift of wearable agape.  If you do this, please remember to include gathering name or your name so any leftover can be given back.

If you feel artistically called to share the love of Christ, you may also decorate napkins and placemats for the walk.  If this is how you want to show God’s love, please contact either of the Agape chairs and they will make sure you have napkins or placemats to decorate.

Thank you for all the love that you will show the pilgrims and teams!  God’s love is too good not to share!

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

Want to experience Emmaus Walks from behind the scenes?
What to get to know more Western New York Walk to Emmaus people?
Want to see pilgrims through each step through the weekend?
Want to see smiling faces?
Then, please read below...

All it takes is basic knowledge of food & menu preparation & project planning, and you too could be the next Western New York Walk to Emmaus kitchen coordinator!  Yes, Walk 51 in Hamburg will my last walk where I will be serving as kitchen coordinator.  It has already been 3 years since I started, and it has been an amazing experience.  It is now time for someone else to experience the amazing Emmaus Kitchen.

Kitchen Coordinator facts:
  1. No, the kitchen coordinator position does not need to be a chef or experienced culinary expert.  The position does require basic home knowledge of food and menus, but most of the work is shared amongst the Emmaus community.
  2. Yes, a trailer does come with the kitchen coordinator position.  But, there are many people in the Emmaus community that can assist with the storage and transport of the trailer.
  3. Yes, the kitchen coordinator has a budget.  There are plenty of funds available to feed everyone well, but the kitchen coordinator does need to stay within the budget defined by the yearly Western New York Walk to Emmaus budget.
  4. Yes, the kitchen coordinator should attend the monthly Western New York Walk to Emmaus board meeting.
  5. Yes, a big smile and positive attitude is required.
  6. No, you will be not alone to serve everyone for the Walk weekends.  There are many, many wonderful talented people in the Western New York community that can help with every aspect of the weekend.
  7. Yes, I will assist the next kitchen coordinator to make sure the transition goes smoothly.  Walk 51 would be a great opportunity to start the transition!
If anyone hears the call to serve as kitchen coordinator, please give me a call to find out more.  Please prayerfully discern as the kitchen coordinator is an important role in each Walk weekend.

WNY Chrysalis
Boys Flight #18
Lay Director Report

Our God was so faithful in the reformation of this team and in the challenges that we faced, including HOT days and a large thunderstorm, and blest us with ten young men that had their lives changed on this Flight.  Right from the first night, they came seeking God with an open heart and wanting to develop a deeper relationship with Him.  And as you could tell by their testimonies, they were successful and God is faithful!  I was also blest by the talented voices God gave these young men who enjoyed praising our Lord.

Our Lord reminded me about helping our young people develop a deeper walk with our Lord through Mark 10:14 which states: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”  Therefore, for the benefit of these young men, I am so thankful for the perseverance of the many to allow this Flight happen.

I also want to thank those who served in Big House for their help throughout the weekend.  The special gift by the community during candlelight was again breathtaking, with the love of God everywhere in that sanctuary.   And for those who attended the closing ceremony, thank you for sharing in the continuous Grace of God given to these young men.

I am also thankful for the prayers that continued to pour in from the community during the weekend.  The power of prayer was very evident.  So please continue to pray for our new butterflies in their next steps.

Fly with Christ!
