CIAFV Workshop
CIAFV's Public Education Awareness Raising Committee is very excited to host the Community Advocates Project Team during Family Violence Prevention Month on November 8.

The Community Advocates has been working in Edmonton for 10 years, all participants have been impacted by violence at some point in their lives and they have worked very hard to share their stories through a video, a book, public speaking, and a journey mapping project.

A new round of Family and Community Safety Program (FCSP) grants are now being accepted. Organizations can apply for FCSP grants that support their work to prevent family and sexual violence, promote healthy relationships and create inclusive communities. Applications are now open and will be accepted until November 30, 2018. Up to 250,000$ available.

Status of Women Canada has released a Call for Proposals to fund proposals that will increase the capacity of eligible women’s and Indigenous organizations whose initiatives contribute to a viable women’s movement in Canada to advance gender equality. Applications are now open and will be accepted until December 11, 2018.

There has been some confusion about the difference between the Family Violence Information Line and the Provincial Abuse Line. Both lines offer referrals to clients. Neither are reporting lines, but would they would connect callers with the right place to report.
