Happy Monday, Wilkinson! Today is Day 2. Here's your weekly rundown of what's happening at the school.

Welcome Acting Vice Principal, Bill Harrison
This week, Bill Harrison joins us to fill in for Ms. Yasmin Buhariwalla until the end of the year as she recovers from a medical procedure. We wish Yasmin a speedy recovery and offer a warm Wilkinson welcome to Mr. Harrision.

Spring Scholastic Book Fair
The Spring Book Fair is on this week in Room 3 all week. Check this flyer for specific times, and stock up on summer reading material while supporting literacy at Wilkinson! 

Reminder: P.A. Day on Friday
Remember, the school is closed this Friday, June 10, 2016, due to a board-wide P.A. Day. We hope our students enjoy their long weekend.  

Reminder: Volunteer Appreciation Event
Please come to the school on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 8:45 AM for a volunteer appreciation event. See this flyer for more information.

Keep an eye out for Jump Rope for Heart pledge forms for this week's event. Proceeds will go to help fund initiatives in the fight against heart disease in Canada.

Be sure to check Mr. Kasaval's website regularly for sports updates. 

Parent Council Meeting: NEW DATE
Please note that our next and last meeting of the Wilkinson School Community Council for the 2015-2016 school year is being moved to Monday, June 13th (from June 6th) in Room 3. This will also be our AGM. 

Childcare is available upon request. All parents/guardians are welcome, you don't need to be a member to attend. 

Fun Fair Silent Auction
There are amazing deals to be had on a few items still left after the Fun Fair. Visit the website for more information and make sure you don't miss out!

Scientists in School
On Monday, May 30, students in Ms. Stelmanis’ class were visited by Tammy Macklin as part of the “Scientists in School” program. The children had fun while learning more about insects and their life cycles. Check out the creepy, crawly pictures on the website... if you dare!

Wilkinson-St. David's Sponsorship Group Night Out

Thank you,  Wilkinson school community, for all of your very generous support and commitment to this cause. So far, we have raised over $18,000 to bring a refugee family to our community.  We're hopeful that in Spring 2017 we may see the results of our hard work pay off. In the meantime, we have one last fundraising event planned to try to reach our goal of $23,500 in order to receive a matching grant approved by the Anglican Diocese of Canada. 
 
What: An evening of live music - all proceeds going to the Wilkinson-St. David's Refugee Sponsorship Group
When: Saturday, June 18, 2016, 8:30 pm
Where: The Eton House, 710 Danforth Avenue
Who: Local east end band TRAINWRECK
Cost:  $15 in advance online or $20 at the door, if there are any tickets left!!!

TRAINWRECK plays everything from Elvis (Presley) to Elvis (Costello), from ABBA to ZAPPA, aiming to delight and surprise with every song. A guaranteed ‘wrecking’ good time! Hope to see you there!  For more information, check out our website.
