Happy Monday, Wilkinson! Today is Day 3. Here is your rundown of what's happening this week.

Principal's Message
Leaving School Premises
We recently had a couple of incidences of students leaving school grounds during recess. This is very unsafe and although we have supervision during these times, students could leave the premises without being seen. Please remind your children that this is not permitted and also review your street safety rules with them. We will do the same the same here at school.

Cell Phones
Cell phones are increasingly an issue at TDSB schools. At Wilkinson they seem to be coming up as an issue more and more. I would like to remind everyone of our policy: Students may bring cell phones to school for the purpose of communicating with parents before and after school. During school/class time and throughout the day, cell phones are not to be used and are to be kept in jackets/backpacks. We are not responsible for lost, stolen or broken cell phones. There may be occasion whereby students are permitted to use cell phones in the class or around the school. This would be communicated to you beforehand.

Online Activity
We continue to remind students about the appropriate use of the internet and which activities are safe. The TDSB has age appropriate screening in place to block certain web pages or websites from being accessed at schools. Please ensure you have rules around Social Media regarding when and how your children can use them. There have been a few incidences involving Wilkinson students being harassed or having photos/videos posted on social media sites without permission. It is crucial that you are aware which sites your child is using, who they are chatting with and the type of material they are viewing.

Stay tuned for information from your Parent Council regarding a presentation for parents and caregivers around internet safety in the home.

Wilkinson will observe International Day of Pink on Wednesday, April 12th, a day where communities across the country unite in celebrating diversity and raising awareness to stop homophobia, transphobia, transmisogyny, and all forms of bullying by wearing pink. Visit the website to learn more.

Health & Physical Education (HPE) Program
Healthy Snack of the Week
This Week: Berries
Next Week: Cucumbers

Track & Field tryouts are scheduled for the week of Apr 17th, the first meet will be at Birchmount on May 4th. Please visit Mr. Kasaval's website for information on tryout dates and times, and for news on HPE programming at Wilkinson.

Fun Fair Help Needed!
We are looking for a few parent volunteers to help out with pre-event shopping for this year's Fun Fair. Specifically, we would like some help picking up items at local stores (groceries, supplies, auction items). If you have access to a car and flexibility to pick up items at different times of day, this is a great way to get involved.

We would also like a Co-Lead for the ever-popular Loonieland, where kids play a game of chance by paying $1 to win a mystery prize. The requirements include set-up on Friday, May 5th and a shift in the room during the Fun Fair on Saturday, May 6th

Please contact us if you are able to help in either of these capacities. No time to volunteer? Don't worry, there are many ways you can be a part of Fun Fair. See this list of donated items we are collecting to support the event.

Pizza Lunch on THURSDAY, April 20th
Please Note: The next pizza lunch will be on THURSDAY, April 20th. Children who take part in the pizza lunch program do not need to bring a lunch to school that day.
