Library News
The is the last book exchange week of the school year. As of Friday, all books are expected to be returned to the library. Please check your child’s backpack, room or the usual spots library books can be found in your home.

On May 9th, Wilkinson Library hosted illustrator, storyteller and graphic novelist, Tony Cliff, author of the Delilah Dirk series. Mr. Cliff met with grade 4 and 5 students to talk about the series, his illustrating, and the creative process. The visit was a part of TD Book Week. Chloe from Room 20 had the opportunity to interview Mr. Cliff during the visit. Click here to listen to the interview.

This year, 80 students in grades 4-6 joined this year’s Silver Birch Reading Program. Over 60 were eligible to cast a ballot for their favourite on voting day at the end of April. 58 of these avid readers attended the Festival of Trees on May 15th as part of the Silver Birch Program. The Festival is the culminating event of the 4-month reading program, and winners were announced in three separate Silver Birch award ceremonies. This year’s winners were …

  • Silver Birch Non-Fiction - Carey Price: How a First Nations Kid became a Superstar Goaltender written by Catherine Rondina.
  • Silver Birch Express - Meet Viola Desmond by Elizabeth McLeod and illustrated by Mike Deas.
  • Silver Birch Fiction - Chase by Linwood Barclay.

The Blue Spruce winner for children's picture book - announced on May 14th - was Barnaby Never Forgets by Pierre Collett Derby.

The grade 6 yearbook is underway and Mr. Krentz is looking for photos! If you have photos from field trips, sports teams, concerts or events, please send them in for consideration.
