W  11/18   Early Release day -- CANCELLED.

Congratulations to all for a great first week back to school! Our in-person and EDL learners are doing a great job engaging in their learning. It is wonderful to have the hustle and bustle of students and staff on campus!

Conferences are coming up on Friday, October 23, from 7:50-12:00 and 12:40-2:20. The SUSD calendar changed, and middle schools no longer have early release days for conferences. In order for teachers to conference all day, students will not attend school in-person or online, but rather be assigned asynchronous work to complete during the day. Parents will have an opportunity to sign up to meet with their child’s teachers virtually to discuss progress to date. Be on the lookout for additional information on how to sign-up early next week.

Students had their photos taken and received their school IDs on Wednesday and Thursday. It is expected that all students wear their IDs around their necks on a lanyard, at all times, beginning Monday, October 19. If students were absent, we will take their picture and print them an ID. If students do not have their IDs, they will be sent to the office to have another one printed and their account will be charged $5.00. Please remind your child to keep track of and remember their IDs each day.

We are still missing 26 COVID acknowledgement forms. Beginning Tuesday, students will be excluded from class and parents called to pick them up or come to school to complete the form. The form can be completed via ParentVue or printed, completed, and emailed. I will email those missing the form separately as a reminder as well.

Please be sure that your contact information and all your emergency contacts’ information in Synergy is current and updated as needed. We must be able to reach someone very quickly should your child begin to exhibit COVID-19 symptoms. We need for someone to be available to pick them up within 60 minutes of being contacted. The longer they are on campus, the more potential risk there is to others.

The SUSD and IMS dress code are in effect. Please ensure that your child is dressed for success and is not violating the dress code. If students are dress coded, they will be sent to the nurse to change into school appropriate clothes.

Please contact me with questions.

In partnership,
Erin Kadera
