HOLIDAY GIFT FUND FOR TEACHERS -- LAST DAY TO DONATE!
Please join with the PTO by donating to a holiday gift fund!
We are so proud of how our teachers, staff, and administration have handled this challenging year as they have continued to show up for our kids! They have managed new technologies, shifting schedules, and uncertainty about everyone's health with grace. Perhaps most importantly, they have been a consistent, caring presence.
IMS PTO will pool the donations, along with a donation from PTO funds, and create a holiday gift for these dedicated professionals.
A HEARTFELT THANK YOU!Our IMS community is amazing! We were blown away by the outpouring of support for this year's Angel Tree program!
Because of your generosity, 32 students will have a much brighter Holiday season. Thank you for reminding these special students that kindness is all around them!
IMS PTO is so grateful to Liz Ord for chairing this program for the past 4 years!! Thank you for being a beacon of kindness!
As you probably know, there is a lot of conversation on what school will look like when we return following Winter Break on January 4, 2021. Unfortunately, we will not know for sure until the metrics are reviewed as we get closer to our return.
In November, EDL and SOL students were asked their intentions for 2nd semester, and we have many additional students returning in-person and to EDL. With the additional enrollment comes additional staffing. I will be working between now and break to rework our master schedule to incorporate our returning staff and students. With this comes the possibility of students being shifted to properly balance classes. I wish I were able to provide specifics, but at this moment, I can’t. I thank you in advance for your continued support and understanding as we work through the continuous changes we are experiencing.
Please help us by ensuring that your child brings his/her fully charged Chromebook each day.
Students will have the opportunity for picture retakes on Thursday, Jan 21 (new date).
We invite our EDL students to come on this day.
We will create an alpha split schedule, so their picture can be in the yearbook. Please watch for the schedule!
Our yearbook order forms went home this week.
If interested, please consider getting your order in early.
We over ordered last year and will be cutting way back. This means we will not have extras for last minute purchases.
Students are required to wear their ID on a lanyard where it is visible at all times (Replacements are $5.00 each)
Students need to come to school prepared with all necessary items as no deliveries of any items are allowed
Students must adhere to the dress code
Students will be participating in ELA and Math Benchmarks between Nov. 30-Dec. 18. Teachers will communicate their selected dates.
DO YOU (OR YOUR KIDS) WANT TO HELP ASSEMBLE GIFTS
FOR FRONTLINE WORKERS?
Our own IMS mom, Christy Alvarado, has partnered with some friends to create Operation: Everyone! Their mission is to spread love and kindness!
They are looking for volunteers to help assemble gifts for frontline workers, including teachers, healthcare workers, etc!
They will provide instruction and the materials -- they just need your hands!
Envelopes for EDL students will be available on Tuesday, Dec 8 at Picture Day, if you prefer not to use the online system.
TITLE I STATUS STILL IN JEOPARDY!
Our percent of students who qualify for free and reduced has declined to a point that we could lose our Title I status.
These funds help pay for one of our counselors, our Instructional Specialist, our intervention teachers, supplies and professional development for teachers, and parent involvement activities.
If you qualify, your family not only receives support with breakfast and lunch, but also reduced fees for athletics and other extra-curricular needs.
Please use a computer -- not a phone -- to complete the application. (The website doesn't work smoothly on a phone...)
If you need help completing the application, please contact Leticia Pereda, our Community Specialist at lpereda@susd.org, or your child’s guidance counselor. Your help is greatly appreciated!
A FEW (MORE) ITEMS OF NOTE:
In-person learning is currently planned for 5 days/week, with a return to a full-day schedule. Every Wednesday will be an Early Release Day to allow for professional development, and to give teachers time to assist students who may be in quarantine.
