Pillion ranked among most effective legislators

For the second year in a row, Delegate Todd Pillion (R-4th District) is ranked as one of the most effective members of the Virginia legislature.

According to the Virginia Public Access Project's Legislators' 2019 "Batting Averages," Pillion ranks second in the entire General Assembly in terms of legislation passed. His 90% pass rate is surpassed only by the Speaker of the House, Kirk Cox, who ranks first on the list. There are a total of 140 members in the House of Delegates and State Senate.

“Getting things done for Southwest Virginia has always been my top priority,” Pillion said. “In a region with only seven legislators west of I-77, we have to work together and put our best foot forward when confronting the issues that matter most to our families and neighbors. I’ve been blessed with the privilege of being in a position where I have the ability to make a positive difference for our citizens and communities, and I strive to do that every day, whether it be in Richmond or here at home.”

Nine bills sponsored by Delegate Pillion passed the House and Senate; of those, seven passed unanimously. As a result, Virginia will have additional tools to combat the opioid epidemic and elder abuse, small businesses will be able to participate in the group health insurance pool, pharmacists and patients will be protected from the aggressive practices of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and those who murder law enforcement officers will receive a mandatory minimum life sentence.

Pillion also worked on legislation conforming Virginia law to the federal hemp law, improving school safety procedures, and targeting spoofed phone calls. As a member of the Republican majority, he was also involved in stopping the late-term abortion bill and helping pass a nearly $1 billion tax relief package, the most significant tax relief plan in at least 15 years and the second largest tax cut in Virginia history.
Delegate Todd Pillion represents the 4th district in the House of Delegates which consists of Dickenson and parts of Russell, Washington and Wise counties. He is a candidate for State Senate in the 40th District.
