LETTER FROM THE CHAIR

Dear FNAME,

Greetings from New York City. We had quite a busy summer here at the Gabelli School of Business.

Our marketing faculty has spent their summer working on various research projects. Under the
Research section, you can read summaries of some of their selected publications. My colleagues were also busy attending various research conferences, including SERVSIG and the Frontiers in Service conferences, to present their research. In keeping with tradition, they came back with multiple awards from those conferences.

Applied learning lies at the core of our teaching philosophy not only in our marketing area but also at the Gabelli School of Business. You can read about the applied projects that our students in the MS in Marketing Intelligence program completed over the summer under the Teaching section.

I am very proud of the fact that I will be again one of the co-organizers of the Let’s Talk About Service workshop that will be held in Ghent on Dec 5-7, 2018. This workshop is a great opportunity for PhD students and junior faculty to get together, learn and collaborate on a research paper. You can read more about this workshop below.

We will also hold the Second Global Conference on Creating Value in May 2019. This conference will bring together academics and practitioners from all over the world to discuss value and value creation. Details are below.

Finally, we are very happy about our marketing area's #15 spot on the US News undergraduate specialization rankings. This is an outcome of hard work by our students, faculty, and staff here at the Gabelli School of Business.

As always, please accept this e-newsletter as an open invitation to share your ideas or suggestions for possible collaborations and joint projects with our area and/or individual faculty members. You can always contact me at kabadayi@fordham.edu. If you happen to be in New York City, feel free to stop by our campus and say "hi."

Best Regards,
Sertan Kabadayi, PhD

TEACHING
Clinical assistant professor Peter Johnson, has worked tirelessly with groups of students on an MS in Marketing Intelligence Applied Project this past summer. The idea of this class is to be "out of the classroom" to gain real-world learning and experience. This approach is encouraged in the students' last semester at Fordham, in which they work in a group.  More
